Wilderness Medicine Oregon is dedicated to helping you recreate safely outdoors.
Wilderness medicine is defined as any medical aid given outside "the golden hour," or otherwise far from definitive medical treatment like hospitals. Wilderness medicine courses go far beyond the topics of a basic first aid course, and prepare students to handle many situations on their own until help can arrive or a hospital can be reached. Wilderness medicine often involves in-depth decision making, improvisation, and working in the elements to ensure the best outcome for those in need in a remote setting.
Our certifications are all through Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities, SOLO. SOLO is the grandfather of wilderness medicine in the United States, and has been teaching these courses since 1976. More information of SOLO can be found on their website.
